Dr. Yaad Shergill

My journey in chiropractic care began in 2007 when I started my education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, and by 2011, I graduated, eager to delve deeper into this dynamic field. My drive for learning led me to the Clinical Sciences residency program, which shaped my career as a Chiropractor (for both humans and animals), Researcher, and Professor. In 2013, I entered private practice in a multi-disciplinary clinic, eventually co-owning One Elephant Integrative Health Team Inc., a clinic recognized for its award-winning, interdisciplinary approach to care. Our clinic is a leader in women’s health and team-based care, a mission I remain deeply committed to. Alongside my clinical practice, I also developed research leadership as a Research Program Manager at The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, where I launched The Power Over Pain Portal to provide evidence-based resources for chronic pain management. Expanding my expertise, I completed post-graduate training in animal chiropractic in 2018 and a Master’s in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University in 2022, which sharpened my ability to drive innovation and improve health systems.
What inspired me to pursue chiropractic care was a personal experience watching my mother struggle with chronic pain after a work injury. Witnessing her navigate the healthcare system and her pain, particularly as a newcomer to Canada with limited English, fueled my desire to help others in similar circumstances. This personal connection to pain management influences my inclusive, patient-centered approach, emphasizing education and empowerment. I believe that by engaging patients directly and respecting their unique backgrounds and experiences, we can provide care that is not only compassionate but scientifically grounded. My career has been marked by a commitment to continuous learning, inclusivity, and evidence-informed practice, which shapes everything I do, from teaching at Seneca College to serving the diverse community through my clinic and research efforts.
Areas of expertise: women’s health, chronic pain, animal musculoskeletal health
